My Personal Website. HELP!

I've always known that I wanted to have a personal website, and I have had one for quite a few years. But I've never really been completely happy with it. Mostly I just have some pages devoted to me - who I am, where I've been, what I think, etc. - and then some links to other sites - my blog, my facebook page, my twitter page, etc. On my last version I had a poem that someone wrote for me in 1974 about beer and a moose.

So I thought I'd ask the three or four of you who read my blog for ideas. What sort of information should I have on my personal website? Should I stick with the who, where, and what sort of format? Or should I do something else?

I've had fancy and I've had minimalist. Which do you prefer?

That's all I wanted to ask. Your comments are desired. Thanks.

It's really a personal choice. I have lots of GENERAL stuff (books and movies I like) but very little specifics. I don't really want people to know my private details and such. What's your raison d'etre for being on the web. You need to decide.

My "design" on my website is home made and relatively simple. I don't care for fancy but rather like consistency and ease of use.
